The following organizations are leading the Envision the James Initiative, with support from a wide range of corporations, agencies and nonprofits.
This initiative is guided by a Conservation Council made up of representatives from various organizations, agencies, and businesses across the watershed.
The Chesapeake Conservancy is dedicated to ensuring conservation, stewardship and access of the Chesapeake Bay, its lands and rivers. The Conservancy was created out of a merger between the Friends of the John Smith Chesapeake Trail and Friends of Chesapeake Gateways.
James River Association
The mission of the James River Association is to be guardian of the James River. We provide a voice for the river and take action to promote conservation and responsible stewardship of its natural resources. We achieve these goals through four core programs: Watershed Restoration; Education and Outreach; River Advocacy; and our Riverkeeper program.
National Geographic Maps
National Geographic Maps was established as a division of the National Geographic Society in 1915 and is responsible for illustrating the world around us through the art and science of mapmaking. We publish wall maps, outdoor recreation maps, travel maps, digital maps, atlases and globes that inspire people to care about and explore their world.
